Life keeps putting us in the similar situation until we learn something and do it differently. Some people say we need to break the pattern. But when you break the pattern, a new one emerges that you might think is better than the previous one. So, when does this cycle ends?
It’s a long journey until we break existing patterns and prevent new ones from emerging in our lives. If you think of Y.O.L.O, patterns end with death. But if they persist beyond that (e.g., Y.L.M.T), is there a way to break them all?
If you think again, those patterns are actually a tendency of responding to something, tendency of an event to happen, tendency of a thought to arise, tendency on how one perceives information or events. Tendencies are how things are likely to happen or formed.
The first step is to become aware of these tendencies—why, when, and how they happen. Second, through this awareness, understand that everything arises, happens, and eventually fades away. Stay aware and learn that everything is impermanent.
In our brief lives, we should maximize our time learning about how the world works, drawing lessons from every event, overcoming ourselves, and continuously breaking patterns until we discover how to transcend them altogether.
