What’s the purpose of routines and all our activities? What true meaning do they bring to make life worthwhile? Personally, I’m not fond of the idea of living just by repeating the things we love and avoiding the unpleasant ones. It feels like invisible handcuffs preventing us from being free of suffering.
If you continue to indulge in sensual pleasures through activities, you won’t realize the potential to free yourself from such suffering.
By “suffering”, I mean that all the good things in life are impermanent, but so are the bad ones. Even though we acknowledge that nothing lasts forever, we still tend to believe in a permanent self.
Whether there’s a permanent self or we’re just a combination of feelings, perceptions, consciousness, and thoughts, the question remains: if you understand the components that form a self, does a true “self” exist? Think about it.
