Senses enable us to experience things and generate perceptions. We love to see beautiful things. And the automatic mechanism of wanting to see them again works. Every time we have a pleasant experience through the senses (including mind and feelings), we want it to occur again. This emerging desire is like a piece of wood that keeps the campfire lit. We put more wood almost every time. Let’s call this an imprint.
Even if we are doing nothing, the urge to experience the pleasure is piled up until we satisfy them. Then after a while, that desire will come again and again and again.
Now, why should you keep it from happening? Can you prevent it from occurring? What if you can avoid it from occurring? How can one control oneself? What is the benefit of performing such efforts?
Doctrine I
The realms (earth, heaven, hell, and others) are interconnected. Your imprint on this world will affect how you’ll be “treated” or “live” in heaven or hell (if the effect isn’t experienced yet until you die). If somehow you could die in heaven or hell (Doctrine II), it will later affect how you live on earth (or in other realms).
Doctrine II
You will surely die after being beaten in hell. One day, after trillions of tortures, you will die and be “born” elsewhere. Vice-versa for heaven and other realms, nothing last forever.
The Way
If the doctrines are true, we shouldn’t leave any imprints as much as we could, or at least make more good imprints. But good imprints may not be enough, as heaven may not be permanent as well.
Living this life without making any imprints is not easy at all. How can one conquer oneself to control their imprints not to be made?
The Imprint
Imprints are generated once our senses meet the sense objects, namely contact. These contacts are unavoidable. A feeling will then usually occur, whether it is a good one or a bad one. Now, this is the chance to cut the chain of imprints by only observing the contacts without judging, letting feelings occur without desires. Not easy at all, but doable. Observe the mind constantly, be alert, and let the urge passes when it arises. This observation process is also not easy, as commonly, one will try to satisfy it.
The Result
If my prediction is correct, and no imprints are being made, it will result in “you” in a state that will prevent you from existing in any realm. And all this will only make sense if you believe in the provided doctrines, which I cannot prove yet, and there are reasons why heaven and hell are not permanent. I also put “you” in a quote, as there is no permanent self within oneself. I will post about this in a future topic.
Conclusion
Like a fly eating a speck of dirt, it thinks it is delicious. We see our pleasures as happiness. Once we are wise enough, we’ll see them all as delusions and break this handcuff.
